In this episode we get a chance to spend some time with the extremely talented musician Katherine Finn AKA Katie Kate.
After you’re done giving this episode a listen check out her live performance on KEXP below.
We recorded a live show on March 14th at the Fremont Abbey following a different format that we think you’ll enjoy. We had a panel moderated by Amanda Carter Gomes of The Fold Mag with guests Shelby Earl, and Joy Pearson of Lenore. We explored the complex, but joyous world of musician moms & shared a few tunes to boot. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, so bring a glass, or bottle, of wine, we won’t judge and enjoy the show!
Please subscribe to our show with the Apple podcast app or using the podcast app / service you like best (I recommend Overcast). We have some future exciting interviews that will be posting soon and subscribing is the fastest way to find out about new shows.
We sit down and have a delightful conversation with the musician, writer, podcaster, politician, and all around nice guy John Roderick.

Hello everyone! It’s a been, well, how do I put this, a while since our last episode. So here’s a holiday treat for you to enjoy.
Well, we've done it again, finished another wonderful podcast! I know it's been a while but we're back in business. This episode is with the amazing, sweet, brother from another mother, Marco Collins! Just like so many podcasts of mine since I am a Chatty Cathy (Marco being my equal in that) this one is pretty darn long. We clocked in at over two hours and probably could've kept going! We covered so many things from midlife crisis to the grunge era to the first world problem of what do I do next, insecurities, fear, art, change, self-confidence or lack there of and more Just note there is a surprise halfway through when Marco, the ever talented DJ, got me to seeing a certain Hammerbox song, a cappella!
Hope you enjoy and please spread the word if you feel you have a friend who would love to hear this and more.
Love Carrie
It's been a while. How is it that so much can happen in 6 months? Either life is progressive quickly or chaos is ruling. I'm going to keep to the positive. This episode Ryan Lane (my co conspirator) catch up with each other and you.
Read MoreI've known Roderick from Sky Cries Mary since I was 19. Way prior to my even considering doing music or following my dreams to be an artist. He was so far ahead that arena.
Read MoreIt's taken me way too long to get to a place to find old friends again. I"m so happy that we are all waking up enough to find each other again. I am personally committed to reaching out more from here going forward. This podcast is so much about it.
During the early 90s period of music scene, I was so introverted and shy in some ways. I was used to being a loner and watcher in so many ways. That is who I had been in my life up into then. On stage was different. I felt an automatic comfort like I became a vessel and there was no time to worry! Ah that's a good feeling.
Now I am ready and am so enjoying coming together with other musicians/friends that I really didn't get to know so much at the time. Ah youth! So afraid and trying to tough it through so often. You just don't know what you don't know at the time. Well many years later I do.
So for our 5th podcast (I wish it had been the 7th) I reached out to the wonderful women of 7 Year Bitch. I loved talking with Selene Vigil, Valerie Agnew and Elizabeth Davis. I got the chance to regroup with some of them during the weekend of our benefit to support James Atkins (soul brother and bassist for Hammerbox). I just felt so much love and thought I saw a real look in each other eyes that we hungered to talk and were so ready to share and commune on where we've been, how we've been and where we want to go now. This really just felt like part I of many conversation! Hope you enjoy.

Sorry about the fan noise in the background. It's really too hot here in Seattle right now.
We sit down and talk about all sorts of things that are on our minds and as a bonus the lovely and talented Amanda Stockbridge drops in as a surprise guest.
Well holly hallelujah it’s podcast #2 with my great friend Kim Virant. The big reason we moved back to Seattle was for the family and friendship. Kim and I have known each other for over 20 years and it’s only recently that we have found each other as confidants. And boy has it been helpful. Finally someone who shares some of the same fears around performance, creativity and life’s ups and downs.
I was not the kind of girl who had close girlfriends. I’ve always been kind of lonerish and caught up in day dreams. It’s not that I didn’t want my friend circle but maybe I just did not know how to start are sustain that. Not so in the last 5 years or so. I finally realized that I have to try. I have to reach out. and as Kim says, “You gotta nurture that shit”.
So true. I’m so grateful for friendships like the one I have with Kim. No matter where I end up I know that I can call her. She is no nonsense, smart, caring and crap ola talented. We calm each other down when needed. We rally around and support too. I hope I’m as big a help to her as she can be to me.
Please enjoy!!
NOTE: We are also playing a show together May 27 at Chop Suey starting at 6pm.
ALSO: currently I’m doing an Indiegogo to raise money to record. Kim reminded me to mention it! Thank you.

Today is the day! Between You and I – Podcast #1. I’ve been talking to folks about doing a podcast for years. I love the conversation and communion! Some of my favorite podcasts are The Nerdist, Marc Maron, any of John Rodericks.
I’ll be interviewing friends, writers, musicians, comedians, artists of all kinds and just whomever I feel like talking to here! I’m going to just take it one intuitive choice at a time and connect. I hope you’ll join me on this journey. I hope it brings amazing new adventures. Below is a link to the very first Between You and I podcast with the Friel Brothers (Chris and Rick) as my guests.
I’ve known the Friels closely for over 20 years and farther away for over 30. They are Seattle musical staples and have been playing music since before they were 9 years old!! I’ve had the pleasure of playing in bands with both of them (Goodness, The Rockfords, my solo work and side project Esther Kang). I love their support, kindness and story telling.
Buyer beware (it’s free) this conversation went on for 2 hours! We loved it and covered topics of music, friendship, history, music industry, grief and our continued love of making music. I hope you find this fun and interesting. There are no edits and that’s how I’ll be doing all of them.
I thank you for listening! Onward and upward!
